4 With the Federal election due in 2013, Gowrie Australia commissioned Associate Professor and Principal Research Fellow, Faculty of Education, Australian Catholic University, Dr Joce Nuttall to develop a Message to Candidates for the 2013 Federal Election. Dr Nuttall advocates for all political parties to continue to fund programs in support of the early childhood education and care sector and, based on Dr Nuttall's work, the following article sets out Gowrie's key goal (below) and supporting beliefs and motivations. The strengthening of young children's learning and development in early childhood education and care is an investment in Australia's progress toward genuine social inclusion, in building workforce capacity, and in international competitiveness -- now and in the future.
